Fire Darkens Methow
Main line out for hours

A fire across the highway from Smallwood Farms south of Okanogan caused a power outage in the Methow Valley for Monday afternoon and half of the night. The transmission line that feeds the valley was shut down.

The fire burned down at least one power pole on the transmission line to the Methow, according to the PUD website, as well as three poles on the transmission line to Mallott.

Okanogan County Public Utility District crews restored electricity Monday night.

Roads also closed by the approximately 2,000 acre fire have been reopened according to the Omak Chronicle, which states that one out-building was burned.
