Karen Reneau, Broker / Owner of Methow Valley Realty
I enjoy working with people and helping them find the
right property. I do my best to ask the right questions, listen and
provide buyers the most accurate information possible.
I have been a full
time resident of the Methow Valley since 1987 and am grateful for the clean air
and water, many friends and all the great recreation that we have at our
doorstep.
Here is my background and job experience.
Real Estate Broker / Owner of Methow Valley Realty.
I have been licensed as a real estate agent since 1990 and worked full time in
the business since 1993. Before becoming licensed, I worked in CPA firms
and as controller for Sun Mountain Lodge. My degree and background in
accounting has been invaluable in the real estate field.
Real Estate Valuation
Services:
I have prepared Broker Price Opinions for LSI Market Intelligence, Clear
Capital, Keystone Management and other companies for several years.
I have also prepared valuation reports for private businesses, individuals and
insurance companies.
Building
and Construction:
Since living in the Methow Valley, my husband Dave and I have designed
and built two homes and two commercial buildings.
During our
building projects Dave was responsible for the design, and I have kept track of
all expenses. Dave and I are
do-it-yourself people. We have both
worked hands on, from gathering materials to construction and completion of
our projects. To date I have sanded
many rough cut boards, collected many river rocks, and seen the excavation,
foundation, framing, exterior and interior process as well as septic and sewer
installations, parking lot plans, engineering, etc.
For our commercial buildings and second home, we had trees milled
specially for flooring, siding and interior trim.
The work has been very labor intensive at times, but I feel this
experience adds to my overall knowledge of what goes in to improvements on a
property.
Volunteer
Work: In
1994 I was asked to be part of the Mazama
Advisory Committee (MAC). Members of this committee are appointed by Okanogan County
Commissioners and deal with land use planning for the upper Methow Valley.
In the past MAC has worked on many projects.
With a small grant to pay for one consultant, our group updated the
comprehensive plan for the Mazama area. The
MAC also instigated a sign ordinance, a vision statement and landowner
information booklet for Mazama. We
held many public meetings during the plan update.
The MAC meets whenever there is a planned development, commercial
proposal or an issue (such as nightly rentals) affecting the upper Methow
Valley. Mac
submits comments to Okanogan County each time it meets on land use issues.
Town

I participated as an advisory committee member in this study which was

Since 1996 I have been Treasurer for the Methow
Listing Service (MLS). I have
sat on committees to prepare and update purchase and sale agreements and clauses
and web site enhancements.
Treasurer and web site designer / maintenance person for
the Edelweiss Maintenance Commission.
Past board positions include Treasurer for the Methow
Valley Nordic Ski Team 2005 - 2007.
