I pour over cliffs, fall to my death and am reborn at the bottom of all my falls

The Icy Cold Waters My Blood

Long have I been here
I am the Methow River
Long shall I remain
From lakes formed by winter snows high in Cascades pours
The icy cold waters-my blood
skywards I face...motion and grace
still waters and waters that race
through scenic by-ways, under man made highways
flows the icy cold waters my blood
I nourish the ground
brush and trees just abound
on my banks above last springs flood and
I laugh with the leaves of the low hanging trees
as they tickle my face with love
I so love snow and rain
for snow and rain
my banks can barely contain my love

You should see what I did at Mazama store bridge
during the ‘48 flood
Twist and turn ripple and churn
a liquid carpet of icy cold waters my blood
Long have I been here
I am the Methow River
Long shall I remain

A Poem by the Wise Old Man on Mt. Gardner, Steven C. Johnson
