View of Freestone Lake from Cutthroat Lodge.

Cutthroat Lodge is an architect designed mountain home with modern conveniences, but with the rustic feel of a 1930's western resort. Built in 2003, it has three bedrooms and three private baths, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, screened sleeping and dining porch. The home is located on lake frontage with excellent summer swimming and catch & release trout fishing. It is immediately adjacent to the Methow Valley cross country ski trail system. The bedrooms sleep six, with queen-size beds in two rooms and extra-long twins that convert into a king-size bed in the third.

The house is built "green" with recycled old growth timber, primarily from an apple warehouse that was dismantled in nearby Okanogan. The flooring is original fir with a well-preserved dark patina from the decades of traffic it received as warehousemen stored and processed bins of Eastern Washington apples. The walls are horizontal pine planking, some of which still bear the remnants of markings from stenciled row numbers and hand-scrawled apple sizes. Logged at the turn of the century at the Twisp mill, the wood has taken on its own character.

The lodge makes a great base for heli-skiing, cross-country skiing, white water rafting, world-class hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities. The Cutthroat Lodge is adjacent to the Freestone Inn which provides a restaurant, pool and hot tub.
